Abbie Nederhoed (They/Them), LCSW

Approaches I utilize: Narrative work, Attachment work, Internal Family Systems, Sex therapy, Harm Reduction, Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Areas I specialize in: depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self harm, ADHD, trauma, relationship conflict, non-monogamous relationships whether you are exploring opening a relationship or have been practicing non-monogamy for years, Kink and BDSM, painful sex, desire discrepancy, sexual trauma, gender and sexual identity.

Harm reduction is my unifying foundational perspective. I utilize narrative and humanistic frameworks and strive to be authentic and compassion driven, approaching each situation from an anti-oppressive, sex-positive, and intersectional perspective.

Shame and judgment are often inherent in the ways we cope, and change can be a difficult process. Mitigating any potential harm in how we cope, while continuing to build on existing skills is often an entry point into the work we can do together. One of my roles is to hold space for you to explore your most authentic self. I will also hold space for the ways you wish to navigate relationships and communities, while honoring that you may have to mask your identities to keep yourself safe within these systems.

As an agender, and queer individual who identifies within the kink and non-monogamous communities, lived experience within these identities helps me to understand that we do not exist on a binary.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have training in sex therapy.  Originally a Midwesterner, I moved from Michigan to Oregon in 2015. I have three tuxedo cats and more recently have adopted a 16 y.o grumpy grey boy (cat), I love coffee and cute spooky things.
